Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) a government organization, today undertook a tree planting exercise at Siwot Secondary School in Chilchilla Ward inline to the National Government initiative dubbed “JazaMiti” that was launched by President William Ruto in December 2022.
The Fund conducted sensitization on its products, entrepreneurship training and how to navigate group dynamics in Chilchilla Ward, Kericho County. And also they gave a dummy cheque worth Kshs.500, 000 to Chilchilla Ward funded groups.
The Youth Fund CEO, Mr. Josiah Araabu today graced a youth sensitization forum organized at Siwot Secondary School.Mr. Arabu acknowledged the request made by the youth and groups in attendance to introduce entrepreneurship training at the Youth Fund in all the local areas to assist youths alleviate poverty.
Mr. Araabu reassured them that the request would be addressed as part of the ongoing re-engineering of YEDF services at large.
“Youths should embrace entrepreneurship, the Fund would support your entrepreneurial aspiration by providing affordable financial and business support services, don’t be left out in this.” Mr. Araabu said.
In the record of over 2,000 trees planted today in the school compound to counter the abject and adverse effects of global warming. The organization is keen in its position to fast-track the youth hindrance on access to credits as the Fund will not be derailed by collection of securities in order to access the loans.
National Government Affirmative Action (NGAAF) also stressed their willful contributions to empower women citing that most people cannot afford to access loans, and their main purpose is to empower women in the country.
Mr. Patrick chief of staff —Office of Women Representative mentioned that their credit lending criteria falls in a framework of (minimum number of persons per group is 25 and maximum being 100).
Simulataneously,Youth Fund Assistant Credit Officer,Mr.BarMasaai says that Youth Fund has adjusted its lending reviews up to Group loans,Agribiz loans, Local Purchase Order (LPO) and Local Service Order (LSO) are offered at a minimum of Kshs.100K and up to Kshs.5 million with management fee of 5% which is deducted once.
BarMasai expanded that the organization offers loans at a management fee of 6% to Individuals depending on the capabilities of repayment, at the same time, they're running a Talanta loans offered to the youths to nurture talents.
The Youth Fund Director, Mr.Mutai also on his address, reaffirmed efforts to ensure that inclusivity is observed in the registration of groups from all Sub-Counties.
Chilchilla MCA, Hon.Hezron requested the steadfast considerations in matters empowerment and sensitization programs as he reiterates that his office will offer already formed 28 groups to be given funds in order to carry on businesses.
Hon.Hezron hinted that NGAAF which is famously for women — need to extend their actions in Chilchilla Ward in order to confront poverty together.
Meanwhile, The Fund underscores its criterion collection in having a total of 60 funded groups in Chilchilla Ward only, rendering it to be the most active Ward in the Kipkelion West Sub-County.
The event brought together CEO Mr. Araabu, Youth Enterprise Development Fund, Board of Directors, Chilchilla Ward MCA Hon.Hezron, and his counterpart from Tendeno Ward, Hon. Moses Rotich, and Kipkelion West Sub-County Assistant Commissioner among others.
